Luang Prabang Handicraft Association
A collection of antique textiles originating from different cultures of Laos inspired the modern creation of this striking textile. The advanced skills of weavers of the past are still alive in the fingers and imagination of present-day artisans, and these contemporary versions are testaments to the preservation of skills.
The Tai Lue weavers of Luang Prabang Province are renowned for their skills. They grow cotton and natural dyestuffs such as indigo to produce handwoven textiles. Inspired by traditional textiles a specific motif, such as imaginary animals from traditional beliefs, is the focus point on the pillow face.
Hmong weavers traditional grew hemp for their clothing. The Hmong hemp wallet is adorned with appliqué and embroidery work of an Ohma Akha artisan.
